Proper care and maintenance are crucial to any significant investment. You wouldn’t go 20,000 miles without changing the oil in your car; and forgetting to winterize your home before temperatures plummet isn’t the best idea.

At CitiQuiet, we hold our interior Soundproof Windows in similar regard; recommending that clients inspect theirs once a month for glass clarity, track smoothness, and caulk integrity.

Many issues can be remedied by clients with a handyperson attitude, though we urge you to take extreme caution and care when handling your Soundproof Window installations. The glass’s thickness makes them exceptionally heavy, requiring multiple people with specialized tools to manipulate them in and out of the master frame. CitiQuiet’s servicing department is readily available with the manpower and equipment needed to tackle any of the tasks below, and more.

Cleaning Your Windows

An upside to having an interior Soundproof Window is that they are not as exposed to the elements as your exterior Window, requiring fewer cleanings. Should you feel compelled, however, CitiQuiet recommends using a 2:1 solution of water to vinegar, with a drop of dish soap. Vinegar is known for its cleaning properties, leaving a streak free shine as the soap breaks down dirt and grime. A paper towel, cloth or sponge for washing and rinsing is recommended. Commercial Window cleaners such as Windex also work in a pinch.

While our casement (“tilt-and-turn”) and double-hung (“up-and-down”) Soundproof Window are designed for easy access cleaning, our 2-pane and 3-pane sliding Soundproof Windows are not. Clients with sliders are urged to consult our servicing team for approved Window washing services. We strongly discourage any attempt to wash these Windows without professional help.

Lubricating the Tracks

Our two-pane and three-pane sliding Soundproof Window Systems operate on small wheels that glide along a track in the master frame, designed for effortless opening and closing. While they are made with longevity in mind, some clients may find that their Windows become more difficult to open over time.

In the event of diminished ease of use, CitiQuiet recommends using a commercial lubricant spray such as WD40 or PB Blaster along the track where the wheels glide. Should this not remedy the problem, it may be indicative of structural damage to the track or Window wheels. We recommend getting in touch with us in this case.

Cracked Glass, Broken Hinges, and More

If your Soundproof Windows have cracked glass, broken hinges, or any issue that could result in the Soundproof Window falling out, call CitiQuiet immediately. We discourage any attempts to fix this problem without professional help, as it could result in serious injury and damage to your home.

Foggy Windows/Moisture Build-Up

Foggy Windows are a common occurrence in cold weather, especially in Windows that are poorly insulated or improperly sealed. Warm air carries significantly more moisture than cold air does and when that warm air comes in contact with a cold Window, the moisture condenses against the glass. Dual-pane Windows and interior Window Systems, properly installed, are designed to prevent this by allowing a barrier of air to create a thermal buffer that prevents this from happening.

There are a number of instances where fogged Windows can happen, and you’ll immediately want to take a look at the silicone caulking that seals the master frame to the Window opening. Any cracks or holes, however miniscule, can carry moisture into the buffer space. Spot-treating this on your own often works in a pinch, but a persisting issue likely means the frame will need to be entirely re-sealed.

Foggy Soundproof Windows, in spite of properly applied caulk, could indicate structural damage to the glass itself. In this instance, we recommend you contact CitiQuiet to investigate.
